Have you ever played the game World Wars? How about Dice Wars? These games are flash versions of the popular game Risk. World Wars in particular is a fun game because it allows varying number of computer players, and you can choose between four different army schemes.
How to Play
To start, let's review the basics on how to play. The ultimate goal is to conquer every territory. As a sub goal, try to acquire as many adjoining territories as possible. At the end of each turn, you receive a number of units based on the number of adjoining properties. Each territory can have from 1 to 8 units on it, they are represented as soldiers, tanks, and a bomber jet. Each territory can attack the territories immediately next to them. Troops cannot move between territories except through attacks. When you attack, one troop stays on the base, and the remaining troops move forward to the new territory. If you win, it is yours; if you lose, you lose all your troops that fought. What happens is you get the number of dice as you have troops attacking, and the defender gets as many dice as he defends with. The computer will never attack a base that has more troops than what he can attack with.
How to Win
There is a luck factor, so it's always possible to lose. But these steps will greatly improve your ability to win.
1. Be picky. Remember, green moves after you. So if all your troops are located near large green units, skip to the next map.
2. Take big changes at the beginning. If you have a large unit positioned next to other large units, attack the enemy from the beginning. Taking out their big units at the beginning severly undermines their ability to win. If you lose an important battle at the beginning, you may wish to restart the game.
3. Try to build your way into a corner, but leave good sized troops on the outer. Then, work your way back out. Don't be in too much of a rush, the enemy troops will do battle with one another, but if you spread yourself thin, they will all attack you.
4. Try to not be the smallest unit within a group of enemies. The enemy strategy is to attack as much as possible. This is their own undoing. Avoid attacking any units (after the beginning chances) that have the same or more troops as you. You will quickly find out that the computer almost always wins these battles. For example, if you have a tank unit attacking another tank unit (four against four), you will usually lose this battle.
